Julie Allinson Award - discussion and next steps

The group determined that the goal would be a cash award that could be made at Samvera Connect, which could be funded by donations to an award fund and would require open nominations and a selection committee. Further discussion was tabled as the next steps would be determined in consultation with the next fiscal sponsor, who could help with setting up a fund. This would be a priority to establish as soon as a fiscal sponsor decision is made, with a goal of opening nominations, accepting funds, and making an initial award at Samvera Connect 2021.

Partnership strategy for 2021

Adding Partners

  1. Outreach to Partners to solicit new Partner leads

  2. Putting together a formal pitch for already ID'ed potential new Partners, including outlining the value from a Community Manager

    1. First step to update partner prospectus: highlight Community Manager services, talk about the value of collective expertise with examples

      1. Marketing Group is willing to help

      2. Highlight WG/IG, standards that come from the Community. MODs to RDF group was helpful example, and the controlled vocabularies work. The newspaper working group did a lot of work that is valuable beyond the software

      3. Collective expertise is something we need to play up: Collective expertise, working together organically, values. Process, practice, sensibilities, the software that results.

Discussion of potential for returning to discussions with other funders once a fiscal sponsor is in place.
