  • Roadmaps Alignment Group Update (Heather, Julie)

    • Met briefly earlier this week, next meeting is in mid-late September, immediately following the Hyrax Valkyrization effort sprint 

    • Had an initial meeting following the July break, on  the docket:

      • More organization/re-organization of github teams 

        • mostly related to the CLA discussion

        • metadataists team was historically a useful way for SMIG to weigh in on issues and questions in the codebase

      • Changes to the core components maintenance working group

    • Coordination of development communication, in order to improve awareness/management of dependencies 

      • Controlled vocabularies (e.g. geonames)

    • Open call for one more SMIG co-facilitator

      • To begin following Samvera Connect in October

    • Connect 2022 Call for Proposals

      • Hyku for Consortia project update proposal

      • Julie proposed a dockerized Hyrax workshop

      • Heather proposed a “Samvera tech for non-devs” workshop

    • Do folks still want to have an accessibility metadata roundtable? 

      • First roundtable on DEI metadata was in January:  

      • Widen the scope of the roundtable to be platform neutral

    • PALNI/Hyku for Consortia user study

      • Interviewed librarians/staff at consortial members

      • How to set priorities in a resource-constrained environment?

        • Results included several metadata topics

        • Users tend to want a single worktype, that can be flexibly customized (e.g. for display, search/indexing)

        • Amanda would like to share these results with SMIG for discussion and to gather feedback; also to share with the Bulkrax interest group

      • Idea of end users, “the public” as stakeholders
