Agenda:
Subgroup Reports
URI Selection Working Group
Ryan: No updates
Controlled Vocabularies Decision Tree Working Group
Julie: Group is probably wrapping up. Group documents have been circulating in community since Samvera Connect, no feedback, so may finalize/convert to PDF shortly. Want to consider how to allow continued contribution over time. Get group together to have a wrap up meeting in next couple months.
Hyrax Metadata Application Profile Documentation Working Group
Nora: Pushed next meeting back to 2/24. Work is largely done until Hyrax 3.0 release. Updates are ready to be published when the time comes.
Roadmaps Alignment Group Update
Jen: Julie Hardesty has joined as Hyrax PO. Have started a Roadmaps Alignment document to collate work happening in the community to help see where there is potential for collaboration, where there is overlap. Meant to be an evolving, continuing document.
Issues/Questions
Annamarie:
Parent/child objects. Would be helpful to have some best practices.
Complexity of these relationships can sometimes complicate later migrations, which is important to consider before implementing.
Sarah: many of their use cases originated from legacy migrations. Has been helpful for patron-level digitization requests where complete folder is digitized. Parent in this context is for the folder. Also used for oral histories - complex, contain several content types.
EDTF - many repositories are making use of Ruby gems to handle but nothing really part of the Samvera official codebase. Add to roadmap?
Many of us on call are using the Duke edtf-humanize gem: https://github.com/duke-libraries/edtf-humanize
Discussion Topics
Request for feedback on Hyrax MAP WG outputs
This document expands on the table in the Samvera knowledge base and provides more detail.
Please review and add any comments or feedback you have.
Nora will ask for feedback as well on samvera-metadata, -tech, and -community
SMIG in 2021: Open discussion of hopes, dreams, demo ideas, call topics, community needs
Equity, Diversity, & Inclusion in metadata, controlled vocabularies. In SMIG, could have a demo/discussion session. Something like a roundtable, idea incubator could be useful. Attend Julie H.’s upcoming webinar: https://events.iu.edu/libraries/event/159095-browse-and-learn-using-linked-data-connections-for
Heather has been talking with Steering and Marketing WG about how to talk about the value of the community outside of code. SMIG and SMIG outputs have come up in these discussions. Want community to be welcoming to new members in a variety of local circumstances. Make a newcomer, “start here” page of the wiki with blurbs about the interest groups, help direct people. We’ll hear more from Heather about this work.
Some kind of workflow exchange or mechanism for people to talk about what they’re doing at their institutions
Group review of root IG wiki page
delay this until next meeting
Change to an earlier meeting time to make it more accessible to folks in Europe?

Will send a doodle poll. Would probably be sometime in the morning or mid-day.
Heather is seeing more groups moving to earlier times and seeing some increased participation.
Next call: February 23, 2021, time slot TBD
