Partners' technical roadmap
Core
Anticipated work for Q4 2011
MediaShelf
- finishing AF improvements
- Rails-style models with documentation
- brings AF closer to ActiveModel behavior
- should mean eventual less code in hydra-head
- bug fixes in OM
- solrizer optimization, including Hull's pdf indexing features
- hydra_head update to take advantage of AF update (if necessary)
TODO
This will be reported on at end of Q4, but not acted on.
- Rails 3.1 upgrade
- assets_path points to javascript and needs to be addressed
- Matt: we're not attempting to keep Rails version numbers in sync with hydra-head version numbers
Stanford and UVA
- "solr mods" work (conceptual phase, not for Q4)
- does this fit into MediaShelf's optimization work? (Naomi: no)
- Phase 3 UI stuff for October 3rd
- AJAX features: submit, auto-save/save on change
Hull
- possible things that could be put into the core, ie. we will be doing this and you could choose to pull it in
- views for image objects
- working with objects in Hydra so that OMI-PMH would see it on harvest
- Hull fork of solrizer includes full-text pdf indexing and will be pulled into master
Local Developments
Hull
- Ruby models for a wider-range of content (not generally applicable)
- Move to Rails3 probably at the same time as move to hydra-head
- hierarchical facets are spec'ed and 80% implemented
- propagating changes to child objects needs to be done
New Grant
- preserving research data is very important
- history department has a bunch of disparate datasets that need ingesting into the repository
- 6 mo. project, starts Oct. 1
Hypatia
To be done before October 31, 2011
- Phase 4 UI work to support drag-n-drop
- Hypatia administration of objects that might go back into hydra-head core
Flash uploader is not the best choice. HTML drag-n-drop is the better alternative.
- editing of archival collections at the item level
- data loading for 7-13 collections
- EAD parsing and loading — doesn't seem to be interest from the group in spinning that out to other heads
Additional items
Things for next quarter
- batch loading
- documentation for batch loadings
- complete FTK batch loader
Libra
- relating datasets
- through December
- School of Engineering will be able to add their ETDs at the end of December 2011
Northwestern
- finish reference implementation of PSTDS (using Drupal)
- find out about VoV grant in Oct., need to be ready by Feb. 2012
- discussion with ND about DIL
- discussion with Wisconsin about authR/authN
DIL
- move functionality over to hydra-head
- collection customization
- drag-n-drop
- image management with faculty upload and presentation
- image cropping
- multi-resolution issues
- dynamic sets created on the fly and adhoc sets created by the user in a particular order
- sets are private as opposed to a public curated set of items
Notre Dame
see ND Roadmap Q4
Rockhall
- PBCore metdata editing
- nice ways of adding additional fields
- plain HTML, merge-in AJAX stuff as it develops
- SIP and ingest methods for ingesting video
Stanford
- Hypatia
- Argo
- Image stack
- Self-deposit application (no firm timeline yet)
- pilot work with researchers depositing datasets
