Agenda

  1. Roll call by timezone per following order (moderator)
    1. folks outside North and South America
    2. Eastern timezone
    3. Central timezone
    4. Mountain timezone
    5. Pacific timezone
    6. folks who were missed or who dialed in during roll call
  2. Call for additional agenda items (moderator)
  3. Reversing Collection membership to improve performance (Esmé)
    1. Collections with many members are very slow — but we can reverse the member relationship (have Objects link to Collections they are members of).  This performs much better when Objects are in a handful of Collections.
    2. See https://github.com/projecthydra/hydra-pcdm/pull/227 and https://github.com/projecthydra/curation_concerns/pull/888
    3. Justin: what about discoverability of members of a collection?  Esme: We can use inbound references (a prefer header in fedora)
    4. Justin: Will fedora get faster? I don't want to do this unless it's required. Esme: Probably not in the short term
    5. Peter: U of A had to do this in Sufia 6.
    6. Ben: The migration for this change will be ugly. We'd have to provide one.  Esme: the change is to go through each collection, and add the collection to each object.
    7. Esme: Hearing some hesitation about this. Will make this a proof of concept for now.
    8. Jennifer: Would support this change.
    9. Anna: Can you document this so people can pick it up? Esme: I can write a wiki page on it and post to list serve
  4. Ordering in Sufia
    1. Looking to bring over functionality from Curation Concerns, which uses a 'file manager' page. Sufia UI group had talked about integrating this functionality into the work edit page, 'files' tab.
    2. See https://github.com/projecthydra/sufia/issues/2321#issuecomment-238658462
    3. Also https://github.com/projecthydra/sufia/issues/2432
    4. Justin: Fully in support.  Having feature parity is a step in merging curation_concerns and sufia.
  5. Removing Datatstreams from ActiveFedora 11
    1. Justin is looking for stakeholders and testers
    2. Jennifer is willing to test
    3. Tom suggests that Justin send an email to the listserve
  6. Moderator/notetaker for next time:
    1. Moderator: Stephen Ng
    2. Notetaker: Ben Armintor.
