- CNI - Notes Kevin Kochanski
Kevin provided extensive notes from a conversation with CNI's Assistant Executive Director (see link). - Library Publishing Forum Abigail Bordeaux
Abigail noted that the LPF conference was 'in progress' using Zoom with breakout rooms for small group discussions. LPF have tried to capture a social element with a variety of themed events (food, drinks, pets). These seem to go well if they fall within an participant's working day.
The main conference channel does not require registration but some sessions have been capped and do require pre-registration.
Notes that whilst colleagues understand that 'someone is away at a conference' they are not so understanding of the time commitment if the conference is virtual.
More to come as the conference progresses. - Other conferences?
- CNI - Notes Kevin Kochanski
- Program Format Discussions
- Possible options
CNI have meade their virtual conference single track over two weeks.
If we split the conference like this, there will could be considerable pressure on us for an extended period of time. Appoint the equivalent of 'room captains' to take some of the load?
We need a CfP out early summer - the returns may help us plan the structure. The pool of material may be different than usual because of the on-line format. It may be that there wouldn't be two weeks-worth of content. - Resources required
- platform
Need to identify a platform well ahead of time. Ask Indiana if we can use their Zoom and, if the answer is 'yes' investigate what resources their particular variant offers. - staffing
