Controlled digital lending
- can enable CDL at collection level within Avalon
- set default loan period (days+hours) at collection or edit it for specific items
- only one user can borrow the item at a time (even administrators can’t view it if checked out to someone else)
- users have a Checkouts page to view their current and past checkouts
- users can return items early
- site administrators can view all circulation to all users
- not yet on roadmap to allow concurrent use (ex: licensed for 3 users at a time)
  - use case for this could be if you own 2 physical copies of an item, you generally can lend a single digital copy to 2 people at a time
Other 7.5 features
- unicode support for filenames
- really enhanced page load time for viewing items, especially with many files/sections
- for next release, also trying to improve performance of edit item pages
Is there a max file size for video upload?
- not on the software side, mostly constrained by underlying system
- best to do very large files through batch ingest, rather than web upload
- have had up to 300G files going into Avalon
