Notes
Steven: will we use Ramp for integration Avalon with ArchivesSpace?
Thor: UCSD very interested in Fedora 6
Steven: anything with transcripts would be helpful, like the new interactive transcript functionality
would be cool to have transcript searching at collection level
Kirsten: would be interested in Valkyrization to scale up Avalon across multiple institutions
now that they have Hyku going up, people are asking about AV materials
currently, they are running Hyku hosted by SoftServ in Docker
Jason (NEC): when uploading video files larger than 2GB or video files compressed to a smaller size, the conversion process can take a sizable amount of time, up to half a day. This is when uploading to website from local machine. IU folks aren’t monitoring compression time because uploading in batch.
Steven: batch ingest can slam the transcoder and cause it to die. Was recommended to try small batches. Some kind of queueing would be useful for batch ingest if doesn’t already exist.
