Agenda & Notes

  1. Any other items for the agenda?
    No additional items

  2. Welcome to The Ohio State University Libraries!
Very excited to welcome Ohio State University Libraries and Annamarie Klose!
We have a press release in draft - currently being reviewed.

  3. Samvera 2025 Proposed Budget - presentation and review
Samvera Finance Budge Sub-committee report (slides will be shared)
Projected revenue is up slightly for 2024: $209,910
We have had a long-running deficit, but this is now down to approx. $600 so this is a positive development.
Financial year is the calendar year.
    5% increase in Partner dues
    $12,000 allocated for developer training
No expected deficit for end of 2025 - expecting a balance of approx $350,000 at end of 2025
Some potential new partners for 2025/26
The loss of partners in recent times has been offset by the 5% increase in Partner dues and the new partner (Ohio State)
OASIS Foundation considers us to be financially healthy!

  4. Samvera Community Meeting, December 2nd
Will be a 2 hour Zoom meeting (not webinar)
    Agenda is being developed

    • The "State of Samvera"

    • Developer updates

    • Sharing updates about implementations of running repositories - will record and put on YouTube

    • Updates from the regional meetings - discuss how to turn the insights gleaned in these meetings into actions
Break-out sessions, after the initial 2-hour Zoom meeting

    • Seeking suggestions for these?
      Remember to register!
Will also prepare an "End of Year Review" to share

  5. Hyrax/Hyku Community Sprints results, remaining issues
Daniel: we have been running sprints for the last couple of months.
Sprints: we will continue these into next year
Thanks you to all the participants!

    1. Accessibility Board: https://github.com/orgs/samvera/projects/37

      1. Very good participation - 8 people working on this one!

      2. Closed > 20 issues

      3. More to do - but we can release each issues as it is completed

      4. A good sprint for newcomers because the issues are mostly atomic

      5. One of the new-comer developers was very enthusiastic about this one :-)

    2. Dependancies: https://github.com/orgs/samvera/projects/36

      1. Hyrax and its core components - e.g. Ruby, Rails, Bootstrap etc.

      2. Good progress with Hyrax support for Ruby 3 and Rails 7.2 nearly complete - will be Hyrax 5.1

      3. Won't include Bootstrap upgrade

    3. Hyrax-Fedora 6: https://github.com/orgs/samvera/projects/35

      1. Not complete but a lot of good progress - ongoing - some issues remaining with the Valkyrie adaptor

  6. Nominations for the Samvera Board 2025 elections
We have 1-2 completely open seats
The wiki page implied a significant time-commitment which is no longer true (is now updated)
    What's involved?

    • a little more time, but not a problem (more of a re-focussing)

    • need to pay more active attention

    • need to get to in-person meetings (although hybrid meetings are normal)

    • meeting once/month

    • a good Board for learning how to do this kind of thing (well-functioning and fun, and plenty of support there)

    • opportunity to champion your own ideas, perspectives

    • a mix of administrators, product people, developers etc.

  7. Looking for participants for a Samvera GitHub Processes Working Group
Heather will reach out directly to some people about this one
Will be very short-lived (probably 1-2 meetings + some offline work)
    Need to document processes:

    • how groups & roles are managed

    • defining processes and how we use GitHub features
Please let Heather know if you have suggestions for content or participants

  8. Other Updates:

    1. Reminder: new Partner meeting day and time for 2025 - 2nd Thursday at 12pm ET/9am PT/5pm GMT - Add the 2025 monthly Partner call to your calendar

      1. Use the link above to add this to your calendar

      2. We will review this schedule annually

    2. Sign up to present or facilitate a topic (5 - 30 minutes) at a 2025 Partner call - see list of ideas on the page

      1. Heather will solicit ideas, but also possible to sign up yourself:

    3. Congratulations to Daniel Pierce, winner of the 2024 Julie Allinson Award!

      1. Asking for donations to keep the award fund going - you can donate via the DonorBox link or request an invoice
