Notes

2b. The discussion about the frequency of the SamTech called expanded into a conversation about format. With the current situation we have an opportunity to enhance the tech call beyond its open agenda format to include some regular PR review (as Chris Colvard started), Slack follow up, WG presentations, and key arc updates.  This is an effort to gather a wider collection of things to discuss to increase weekly engagement.

Frequency:  There was discussion around the value of moving the SamTech call to a monthly format during these times, since we have cancelled a few.  It was the consensus of the call that a weekly schedule continues to provide some consistency and closeness during this time.  As Lynnette pointed out,  the cost of expanding and contracting is more difficult than maintaining and cancelling the weekly meeting.  The question of how to reduce cancellations turned towards how to have more things to discuss.

Format:  The open agenda format is important to the principles of the community and should remain intact.  We are looking to add a few standing items at the beginning or end of the call that would increase community engagement.  Some of the items recommended are:  the return of the PR review, a Slack follow up and help triage, working group updates, regular presenters on key developmental arcs, new technology highlights, and application blockers.

This may put a little more work on the facilitator and notetaker, but we are willing to explore how this could work and how the template would assist.  Jeremy and Thomas will work together this week to see what an enhanced more format may look like for next weeks call.
