Hello Samvera technologists,

This year, we will be holding an online Developer Congress. In years past, Developers Congresses often followed immediately after a Samvera Connect. However, this year, we’re doing things differently.

The 2020 Samvera Developer’s Congress will be held November 16-18 via online channels.

In the weeks ahead, we will be soliciting proposals for topics. So start thinking about and be ready to bring your ideas and interests to the congress. For now, you can follow along at the wiki page for the 2020 Developer’s Congress.

What is a Developer’s Congress? This is a time when developers in the Samvera community come together and focus on some interesting and/or necessary work. It is also a time for us to share knowledge and mentor each other.

Who is it for? Anyone who writes code or software documentation.

What will you need? You’ll want to have a mostly clear calendar for the working hours of November 16-18. You’ll need a computer, an internet connection, and a free Slack account for the Samvera workspace. We’ll likely be video conferencing and screen sharing, but we’ll get that information to you as we get closer to the event. To commit code into a Samvera repository, you’ll need a Contributor License Agreement (CLA) on file.

We hope to see you at the Samvera Developer's Congress!

Sincerely,

Anna Headley (Chair), Adam Arling, Jeremy Friesen, Kait Sewell, Lynette Rayle, and Trey Pendragon
