Agenda:

  1. Report from Samvera Connect
    1. Simple vs. complex
      1. Some reservations about the Simple vs. Complex documentation. More clarification and information needed to explain the difference between the two options (ease of implementation vs. keeping fidelity/complexity from the MODS), especially regarding implementation (especially for the complex options). Complex may be less "lossy"

      2. Making sure every element has a simple option (some currently do not, including subject?)

      3. More information on implementation in general. Problems including keeping documentation up-to-date (can go out of date very very quickly)

    2. Hyrax core
      1. Comparison between the core metadata mappings for Hyrax vs. what group has done for MODS RDF.
      2. Might be a good idea to try to share the same prefixes used in RDF Vocab gem
        1. http://samvera.github.io/customize-metadata-model.html
    3. White paper
      1. Format of general documentation (keep the spreadsheets? use a page on github? wiki?

      2. Listing out all the namespaces being used in the document

      3. Add any driving use cases from the community

      4. Adding guidance/clarification for direct mapping (simple) and complex (minted objects); implementation and software agnostic context

    4. Community review
      1. Distribution

        1. Perhaps combine the white paper/spreadsheets into one large document (PDF?) (with table of contents), following examples of DLPA/Europeana mapping documentations

        2. Send out for review in something like a google doc for easy review/commenting

        3. RDF syntax cleanup before review?

        4. General timeline for cleanup and sending out for review?

          1. Possible goal being end of January/mid-winter?

    5. Next steps

      1. Who will be cleaning up existing documentation/add spreadsheets to the white paper

        1. Julie will take first stab at adding tables to the white paper with some cleanup as well of existing tables

        2. Emily will add new elements to White Paper (summary list of namespaces utilized; additional clarifications around simple and complex)

        3. See how things are on the 27th, to determine a more concrete timeline goal for review

  2. Next meeting: Monday 11/27, 12 PM EST
