The Samvera Steering Group announces its 2019 annual election.
In summer 2018, Samvera saw the unanticipated departure of Debra Hanken-Kurtz from Steering, creating a vacancy within the Steering Group. This vacancy was duly filled via a special election but, because of the short time before this annual election it was agreed the term of office would extend until summer 2022 (approximately 3.5 years). Accordingly, this election is to fill the two seats vacated by Richard Green and Mike Giarlo, who are stepping down, rather than the normal three.
Term
The elected parties will serve for a three year period until summer 2022. If a successful candidate is not currently (May 2019) a member of the Steering Group the seat is eligible for re-election for a subsequent three year term, should the seat-holder choose to run again in 2022. Steering Group members may not serve more than two contiguous terms.
Samvera Steering provides a unique opportunity for community leadership and to provide direction to a key effort in the future of memory institutions.
