- Introduce Mike, Max, Dallas from University of Michigan (tentative)
Minutes:
- Needs to be more of a presence for this group at SAA. SAA may be putting up a pop-up session proposal. Could also try exploring these at certain roundtables or sessions.
- Also maybe get a meeting at SAA
- April 23rd CurateCAMP in Brooklyn
- PCDM Disk Image diagram discussion
- Went through the Google diagram
- Another use case from Michael at Stanford: Software rendered as a WAV file
- Similar to electronic art use case at Cornell
- Michael will share a blog post explaining this better
- Are there other types of content we might model?
- Michael also mentioned the need to model emulation software as part of the modeling
- Nathan asked about relationships between objects within collections, how this gets turned into a usable whole collection with defined relationships by end-users.
- ArcLight thinking about this to some degree.
- What is the system of record for metadata? Reconciling what we do with a repo vs what we do in an archival collection mgmt system.
- Michigan's work analogous to the PDCM work
- Overview:
- Mellon grant to create end-to-end digital archives workflow
- Started with DSpace, but in longer term looking at a repo-agnostic workflow
- Artefactual did a site visit in January; came up with a workflow for objects received on physical media
- Transfer/ingest in Archivematica – interaction with Accession record in ArchivesSpace
- Drag and drop to resource records in ASpace – populating from Archivematica arrangement and description tab.
- Conversations at U-M very similar to conversations in HAIG
- Space setup in ArchivesSpace JIRA for this work – some documentation will go there.
- Trying to figure out how much description to have where – repo, ASpace
- Intellectual arrangement
- Lesson learned from HathiTrust – would rather point to descriptive metadata rather than incorporate it
- Overview:
- Linked data – who's doing what
- Cincinatti looking at EAC project
- Topic for future call?
- Developers/technologists are interested in this.
- Recent pubs on linked data that might be of interest (thanks Nathan!):
- ArcLight
- 2015 is just design
- Interview process is ongoing; would still like interviews from institutions over the next couple of months – end of May
- GA Tech doing some interviews – everyone else throw down!
- Where else to seek involvement?
- DLF
- regionals?
- RAC at SAA?
- What are the implications of Hydra-in-a-Box?
