Scope & Objectives
Samvera is a robust partnership community with volunteer contributions forming the majority of project work and formally share responsibility for its development. They set technical and Community direction; they contribute design and code; they organize events; they conduct training; they help orient new adopters; they write documentation; and they advance the Community overall. The Samvera community has recognized that sustainability and efficiency is promoted by having dedicated and accountable staff in the form of the Samvera Community Manager. Gaps in volunteers for the role of Hyrax tech lead, led to an currently running proof of concept experiment to compensate a person or institution for 25% time.
This working group will assess filled and unfilled priority staffing roles in the Samvera community within the context of equity, efficiency, and sustainability.
Deliverables & Timeframe
This group will deliver an analysis of staffing gaps, volunteer staffing strengths, assessment of the Hyrax Tech Lead funded position experiment, and product maintenance and development coordination and efficiency. The group will deliver recommendations on Specific deliverables will be outlined in the first meeting.
This group will convene in February 2023 with a goal to present outcomes at Samvera Connect in Fall 2023.
