- Synopsis of talk
British Library approached their need for a repository agnostic to what should be used but, after a pilot, went to beta and are now going to full service. This is a multi-tenant installation with a number of cultural heritage partners.
Wants to talk about (1) the challenges and opportunities the work presented and (2) on their work with partners and the Arcadia grant to make Hyku more useful.
Lead into a wider discussion of the purpose of a repository, the risks inherent in system choice, how things are harder and harder to set up and maintain when outsourcing may look slicker and more exciting. How orgs need to address their real needs around openness and transparency. Look at the many pros and cons of in-house v. shared services.
