The Samvera Steering Group announces its 2019 annual election.

Those considering running for Steering should review, and have the support of their institution for, fiscal and time commitments related to the role.  Fuller details of the responsibilities of Steering can be found on the Samvera Wiki.



Requirements for Nomination:

  • Nominees must be employed with a Samvera Partner Institution in good standing.  

  • Nominees must provide a Statement of Purpose describing:

    • Relevant Experience

    • Reason they wish to serve on Steering

  • Institutions may not have more than one representative on Steering. If more than one candidate is nominated from an institution, the Steering Group will contact the nominees. The nominees will then need to decide which candidate will run.

Timeline:

  • Nominations will be accepted between Monday 13 May and Friday 31 May

  • The Steering Group will contact those nominated by a third party to confirm that the nominee will run as a candidate.  Candidates to submit biographies and Statements of Purpose during the week 3-7 June

  • June 10 - Release names of Candidates

  • Election - Open from June 17th - July 1st.  Votes must be received from at least half the Samvera Partner institutions for the election to be valid.

  • Result announced July 2nd or 3rd
  • New Steering members will be welcomed to the July Steering call (26th July) prior to taking up their seats on August 1st
  • New Steering Members serve August 1, 2019 - July 31, 2022
