metadataists team was historically a useful way for SMIG to weigh in on issues and questions in the codebase
Changes to the core components maintenance working group
Coordination of development communication, in order to improve awareness/management of dependencies
Controlled vocabularies (e.g. geonames)
Issues/Questions
OAI support in Hyrax - OAI Support in Hyrax - still in progress gathering info
Discussion Topics
Open call for one more SMIG co-facilitator
To begin following Samvera Connect in October
Connect 2022 Call for Proposals
Hyku for Consortia project update proposal
Julie proposed a dockerized Hyrax workshop
Heather proposed a “Samvera tech for non-devs” workshop
Do folks still want to have an accessibility metadata roundtable?
First roundtable on DEI metadata was in January: Roundtable Discussion on Metadata for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion 2022-01-25
Widen the scope of the roundtable to be platform neutral
PALNI/Hyku for Consortia user study
Interviewed librarians/staff at consortial members
How to set priorities in a resource-constrained environment?
Results included several metadata topics
Users tend to want a single worktype, that can be flexibly customized (e.g. for display, search/indexing)
Amanda would like to share these results with SMIG for discussion and to gather feedback; also to share with the Bulkrax interest group
Idea of end users, “the public” as stakeholders
Next meeting: September 27
