Conversation with Mike Giarlo

  • Original timeline in mid-January was to align with support and availability of resources for HyBox
  • Timeline can be extend, but not past the end of February
  • Slack as main communication channel, use wiki for finalized material and more organization
  • Talked about the UI group's work so far and movement around certain initiatives; for example, workflow diagrams for metadata and file first, wireframes, and personas.
  • Deliver recommendations, workflow diagrams, wireframes for non-UI and other technical people who will be working on Sufia 7 in 2016
  • Parking lot for issues to be addressed in second wave of UI Working Group
  • Willingness to address new ideas as long as they don't move too far outside of what is achievable within the context of Sufia and PCDM

General

  • need to finalize diagrams and wireframes
  • a little piecemeal with the assets that we have created so far. need to package up designs
  • decide as a group what/when to share designs with users and community
  • share less refined wireframes with users to get feedback and iterate
  • committing to address upload and editing, dashboard, and creating collections
  • remember to keep PCDM functionality in mind when designing diagrams and wireframes
  • remember to address needs of current adopters with workflow (file first)
  • work on "metadata first" and "file first" workflow diagrams
  • use wiki for more "official" works and decisions
  • structured files
  • large batch ingest incompatible with web UI and browser -based upload
  • prioritize use cases
