Hardware configuration and specification

We in Hull have set up a three-tier system:

The development server is a single Red Hat VM hosting Ruby, Fedora and Solr with an external link to the University's SQL cluster.  It relies on internal storage.

The test (staging) and production servers are, in fact, triples: two Windows 2008 R2 VMs (one each for Fedora and Solr) and a Red Hat VM for Ruby.  Again there is an external link for SQL.  The Fedora and Solr servers are mapped into the University's SAN which provides file storage.
