Meeting Notes

  1. AI and the community

    1. Heather: Concerns dev contribution. Samvera board is considering potential policies for the github repo and wants feedback. Are there developments in the AI or agent field that should be considered.

    2. Apereo move needs us to have CLAs again, and contributions need to be attributed to an actual person.

    3. Will there be an allowlist of tools? Not sure. -Julie

    4. Rob: AI generated code should be marked as such. There is also the opposite feeling that it shouldn’t because the committer is ultimately responsible.

    5. There is terminology nuance. e.g. AI tools, orchestrator, etc

    6. If there are increased contributions, what is the issue? Code review and approval throughput. -Rob

    7. Home Assistant banned AI contributions for 6 months, recently reopened. Was due to huge influx of PRs for adding devices that all had the same issues. Was overwhelming for the small team to handle.

    8. Rob: Conscious of concern of CVE security issue flood (due to AI exploit scanning) that is likely coming in the coming months. Need to be able to agile enough to respond to these, possibly with our own automation.

  2. Discussion of pull request status check requirement on hyrax main.

    1. Option is off now, but should be on

    2. Documentation only PRs shouldn’t need tests to run. Not sure how yet how to make that happen with above status check requirement.

  3. Discussion of PR that moves locale param.

    1. Google will sometimes index a page as incorrect language.

    2. PR was reverted after noticing issues.

    3. Next steps are finding why blacklight is not respecting the config.
