Apereo Foundation Fiscal Sponsorship process check-in
Partner vote to move forward was unanimous. Apereo now moving the process forward starting with their March Board meeting.
Two additional changes identified: CLAs for development work, and ex-officio status on our Board
We know historically some institutions needed a work around for these types of agreements. We will work through this with Apereo as needed, and work to make sure it is not a barrier for contributors.
Apereo request for support for their open letter to higher ed

The latest on Improving the Bulk Import Experience for Hyrax and Hyku: Community-Funded Bulkrax Sprints
Update on the work completed so far
Selected for grant work because of user and interest group feedback about the difficulties of the mediated deposit flows in Bulkrax. Discussions with Mark Bussey were very helpful to Nick. Determined there was a need for validation and the work outlined below. Currently on demo.hykudemo.org
Want to move from a low percentage to a very high to total percentage of people able to pick it up and do a successful import without documentation.
Flow allows for dropping the CSV and it does an initial validation with actionable insights. Behavioral design to guide to small imports and to see the hierarchy of your import.
Phase 2 is partially funded, and partially completed. THe third and most complex phase validates against controlled vocabularies and requires more interaction and background validation.
Feedback that this is a net positive. 7.1 release of Hyku and a release of Bulkrax.
There is a lot of functionality, and it can be confusing for new users. The work was to help users who need to do a one time csv import, and to do a guided import with validation.
Want to put this out for use and feedback. If and when we can fund phase 3, the community would be actively engaged multiple times per week for feedback.
Update on the funding: several institutions still pursuing a contribution. Some work could be scheduled for later in the summer/fall if institutions identify funds in May-July.
Bulkrax Work Phase | Capability | Funding Required |
|---|---|---|
Phase 1 | Header validation, missing columns, typo suggestions | $50,000 (✓ Funded) |
Phase 2 | Row-level validation, duplicate detection, parent-child checks | $27,000 $14,000 currently funded $10,000 preliminarily approved from IU |
Phase 3 | Value-level validation, controlled vocabulary checks, date formats | $31,000 Requires community funding |

Next steps for the Samvera Partnership Review Working Group
Based on feedback and availabilities, moving the synchronous work to mid-June at the earliest, but recruiting participants now. Looking to structure 3 calls with asynchronous work in between.
Looking at IIIF Consortium optional development fund contribution model, and their multi-tier options.
Heather engaging in pre-work: looking for information from current, former, potential Partners about what structure would help make possible and secure a predictable, annual contribution to support shared staffing and development work. Direct outreach, presenting at Virtual Connect, and discussing at Samvera Europe meeting.
Other Updates:
Checking in on invoicing confirmations soon - going to Partner primary contacts
Anything for the Samvera Board? (Standing item)
Date of next call: April 9th, 2026. Looking for topic facilitator, demo, etc.
