Agenda
Changes to the agenda?
Karen’s last meeting. Everyone shared their gratitude for all her service to the community for many years.
Reflections on Connect; information about attendee data
130 registrants, approx 47 institutions, 22 Partners
Next steps for a 2026 Partnership Review Working Group
Review draft charter
Non-Partner and Partner members, and will gather feedback for example Hyku users, Avalon users, non-partner but longtime Hyrax users, newer Hyrax users, most engaged institutions.
How does this interact with the IOI work in the Hyku community? - will launch this group after the IOI conversations conclude in January. Can bring the Hyku perspective and ideas for making Partership inclusive to their adopters.
Add to charter: background and context about why we’re doing this work now. Role of consortia, and potentially a new consortia Partnership structure.
Timeline: start in Jan/Feb after IOI Hyku facilitated work. Present some findings at Spring Partner meeting. Will require Partners vote and change to bylaws; will keep on top of timing in conjunction with fiscal sponsor change.
Latest new fiscal sponsor options and information
Open Source Collective
https://docs.oscollective.org/welcome-and-introduction-to-osc/our-services-and-benefits
Will reduce fee to 5% of incoming funds for the transfer of reserve funds
Questions: what happens if they go bankrupt, what is the financial health of the organization?
All of their financials are available on the platform and in annual reports. If they were to have financial problems, they would have to give us any money in our fund pursuant to the agreement termination clause.
Happy to talk to us when we have our questions ready
Two others to investigate to add for December meeting:
Timeline with OASIS: July 1, but can adjust as needed. Will need a vote from Partners as the bylaws would change.
Seeds of an idea for a CNI proposal/advocating for them to host an OSS discussion series
Conversations in Fedora leadership, and with Tim Shearer at UNC-CH
Suggestion: Open source initiative at Johns Hopkins or Mellon could have good participants
You need AULs, Deans, etc. to talk about why open source is valuable (not just open source folks) to help reach those who are making decisions “on high”
Kirsten will bring back information from the fall CNI meeting
2026 events planning
Ready to start planning for:
Midwest Regional Meeting/Partner meeting - get some potential dates and get feedback
Code4Lib post-conference meeting; could be a post-conference workshop format
Virtual Connect - will get feedback for a date for this year, first or second week in May. The process is running well enough we will try it without a separate committee for 2026
Still to sort out:
Talk to Canadian adopters and potential adopters about a regional meeting
North Carolina regional meeting potentially in the fall
UK meeting planning
Other updates
Board election
Partner invoicing
Heather is out next week
Agenda items for next month’s call
New Board members will be invited
Final numbers for 2026 budget, 2025 expenses
Confirm regular Board meeting date and time for 2026
Fiscal sponsor next steps
CNI event advocacy
Date of next Board meeting: Wednesday, December 10th
