Collection level IIIF manifests
Manifests allow for the transfer of content between viewers. You can pull images and metadata together from multiple repositories into a viewer to do annotations, transcriptions, and other actions as a researcher that you could not do from the repository. It makes the content more portable, and allows for individual curation of content.
A collection level manifest allows for a whole collection to be lifted into another viewer for a digital exhibit or other cases when someone wants to port a full collection somewhere.

It appears that Northwestern has added a collection-level IIIF manifest (see this example). There's a link to view it as JSON. (from Slack)
Would Collection-level manifests be a good way to provide a persistent link to search results?
Bulkrax improvements brainstorming with Notch8
Discussion structure: https://app.mural.co/t/notch89457/m/notch89457/1758225684750/3ee6395e2f71466e9c3db6a85d7bebc23f00514d?sender=u5027f4140031655ca8968158
Feedback request:
goal: rather than jumping to solutions, the purpose of the Mural board feedback request is to articulate what needs & problems Bulkrax is intending to solve. ie, we want to brainstorm current problems so that we can move towards agreement on: what are the most important problems Bulkrax needs to solve?
In the Mural board, brainstorm about: what Bulkrax does:
well (pink)
not well/pain points (blue)
important, and could be better/opportunities - things to improve on (green)
Examples:
underlying problem:
request of MD team: each person note 10 problems in the Mural board
Discussion of points gathered in the Mural board
“Doesn’t work out of the box” . Lack of documentation that provides clear instructions, especially for customization and ordering of files.
Two separate issues: install/config documentation and user documentation
Error messages - confusing, hard to tell what current status is
(many more points in board ^ linked above)
Next meeting: October 28; October meeting cancelled due to Samvera Connect. There will be SMIG session at Samvera Connect 2025 on October 30, 2025.
