Partnership benefits call for ideas
1. what additional benefits would keep Partnership attractive to leadership under pressure to make cuts?
2. Harder for people to see value of community when it is not gatekept for Partners only
3. Open source memberships are very different from other kinds of memberships. hard to keep that difference obvious to certain stakeholders
4. Looking at open source vs commercial costs considerations and sharing these examples widely
5. Heather is looking for a way to communicate at the AUL level about this value
6. Robin has had success in talking about the investment in staff, leadership opportunities and investing in people over vendors. Leadership and technical skills growth opportunities.
7. Tough when there might be layoffs/are layoffs and cutting is protecting positions. This is a systemic issue, and this year is an acute crisis. We have to prioritize things that are the most important, and we may need to focus on what we can do when we have institutions that were Partners/would be Partners/would like to be Partners and can’t for the foreseeable future, and how to make up for that lack or loss of investment.
8. Expanding Partnership outside the US would also be helpful in mitigation of the most current budget crisis/build more resiliency.
