Welcome

  • Volunteer notetaker: @Nicholas Mark Homenda

Updates:

  • Community Performance Testing Update?

      • Arran looked at sheet

      • Hyrax team (@Daniel Pierce @Randall Floyd) looking at test ID#3

      • Investigating Valkyrie Fedora adapter, multiple requests to Fedora making changes to visibility for filesets pretty slow

      • Trying object caching, etags

      • RDF gem and caching making process twice as fast

      • Should go into Fedora adapter in Valkyrie code

      • Is there a faster way to get unchanged HTTP response from Fedora?

      • HEAD request was tried, similar performance

      • Also combining jobs into a background jobs to increase performance

      • 300 Fileset work takes 2x as long, linear wait time

      • We will test again, @Nicholas Mark Homenda will reach out to folks to ask them to re-test once changes are deployed.

    • Status? Should we set a deadline/number of testers?

      • No additional folks have asked, but ok to do additional testing if desired

      • We can keep these test items around

    • Phase 2 status?

      • Bulkrax work is after this performance work, soon

  • Migration updates?

    • Emory is live: https://open.library.emory.edu

    • Elements pipeline stopped a couple years ago, Emory may be moving on from Elements

    • Pausing external harvesting, manual IR deposit for the time being

What work remains?

  • Frigg adapter testing

    • IU is working on this, required additional work from Freja adapter, but close to functional

    • Currently sprinting on this

    • Selective migration?

      • Combining multiple sites into one big repository

      • Will probably do background jobs more than on-the-fly

    • Fedora folks would be interested in hearing how this goes

  • Valkyrie support for Fedora 5- continue support?

    • We know of 2 institutions using F5, none using Samvera

Wrap Up

Next meeting:
