Meeting Process
Notes
<notes from agenda go here)
Tao asks about the process of updating from Hyrax 3 to 4
Mostly changes related to the blacklight, bootstrap and rails updates will be needed in the application.
Chris asked about Ruby 3 support being added for Hyrax 4 release
Not blocking the release for it, but would nicve to have.
Jonathan asks about tesseract 4/5 use
Heroku makes custom software install difficult. tesseract 4 is latest version available there
How is it being used?
IU uses it on every work to provide search in universal viewer
IIIF level 0 where files are just on disk, anyone using?
Has been used for static manifest generation
Chris: GitHub - IIIF-Commons/biiif: Organise your files according to a simple naming convention to generate IIIF Presentation API json using nodejs (Dat and IPFS compatible)
is the tool I was thinking of for static generation of manifests and tiles from a filesystem directory.
Jonathan had trouble early on getting performant IIIF server.
Used non-IIIF format until discovering level 0.
Need to use pyramidal tiff images for good performance in IIIF.
Number of tile files is a concern.
Iiliad(?) Cramer presented new image archive format. Essentially zip file with http range request support. Can IIIF level 0 support this style of files on disk?
