1.7 Hyku Accessibility Features and Development Plans
Summary
Hyku is based on the Hyrax software, so much of the accessibility work is done for Hyrax and then imported into Hyku. Additional accessibility work is done after import. The Hyku Interest Group audits accessibility concerns primarily using the Siteimprove browser extension on an uncustomized Hyku demo instance.

The following VPATs (Voluntary Product Accessibility Templates) have been created for Hyku:

Hyku 5.0.1, February 2024 (WCAG 2.1 AA)
Community Sprints
Each year, a community sprint is focused on accessibility-related issues, which are reported in the Hyku Github repository with the label “accessibility.”
