Introduction

Use of playlists requires logging into the Avalon Media System as an authenticated user. For directions on how to log into Avalon, see the Avalon User Guide - Logging In.

The Playlist feature is located in the navigation bar.

Definitions

  • Authenticated users - a user who can access Avalon using a valid identifier and authentication combination supported by your institution
  • Playlist -  a collection of playlist Items
  • Playlist item - a range of time from the section of a media object

Creating a Playlist

Select "Create New Playlist" in the Playlist feature. All playlists require a name; the description field is not required.

Playlists can be specified as either public or private playlists. A playlist's visibility must be selected when it is created and cannot be edited later.

Adding Items To a Playlist

Playlist items are added to playlists individually. When viewing or listening to an item, select the "Add to Playlist" icon located in the media player.

Markers

Markers are similar to bookmarks in other applications: time-based offsets. A marker refers to a specific point in a Playlist Item.
